This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies are, exactly which ones protocolghost.com uses today, why, and how you can control them. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
1. What Cookies Are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser to remember information between requests or visits. Related technologies include local storage and web beacons. This site uses only the strictly necessary cookie described below; it does not use local storage, web beacons, or tracking pixels.
2. Categories of Cookies
Strictly necessary cookies. Required for core security functionality, such as protecting a form submission from cross-site request forgery (CSRF) and enforcing abuse rate-limits. These cannot be disabled without breaking that functionality, and we do not ask for consent to set them because they are essential.
Functional cookies. Would remember preferences such as a chosen theme or dismissed banner. Not currently used on this site.
Analytics cookies. Would help us understand aggregate traffic and usage patterns. Not currently used on this site — no analytics script of any kind is loaded.
Advertising and third-party cookies. Would support ad targeting or cross-site tracking. Not currently used on this site, and we have no ad-tech integrations.
3. Cookies Currently in Use
- PGCONTACTSESSID — Category: strictly necessary. Purpose: maintains a secure server-side session so the contact form's CSRF token can be validated and submission rate-limits can be enforced. Set by: protocolghost.com (first-party). Duration: session only (expires when you close your browser); the underlying cookie is also configured HTTP-only, and Secure when served over HTTPS. This cookie is only set on the specific page or endpoint that renders or processes the contact form, and only while that backend is active.
No other cookies are currently set by this site. If that changes — for example, when analytics, advertising, embedded third-party widgets, or checkout/payment functionality are activated — this page will be updated with the specific cookie names, purposes, and durations before those cookies are deployed, and consent will be requested where legally required.
4. Third-Party and Embedded Content
Some pages link out to third-party platforms — Discord, Twitch, YouTube, GitHub, Patreon, other social platforms, and HolliBae (hollibae.com). These are outbound links, not embedded widgets, so visiting this site does not, by itself, cause those platforms to set cookies in your browser. If you click through to one of those sites, its own cookie and privacy practices apply once you're there.
5. How to Control Cookies
Because this site sets at most one strictly necessary, session-only cookie, most visitors will have nothing to manage. If you still wish to review or block it, every major browser lets you inspect, delete, and block cookies through its settings (for example, Chrome's "Privacy and security," Safari's "Privacy," Firefox's "Cookies and Site Data," or Edge's "Cookies and site permissions"). Blocking the strictly necessary cookie may prevent the contact form from submitting successfully, since it protects that form against forgery and abuse.
6. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. Because this site does not use tracking or analytics cookies, there is currently nothing for a DNT signal to disable. We will revisit this section if that changes.
7. Changes to This Policy
We will update this Cookie Policy whenever the cookies we use change, and update the "Last updated" date above accordingly. Please check back periodically, especially before assuming no nonessential cookies are in use.
